Super fancy dinner at Gary Danko this past Sunday night. Thanks to my friend Phi for treating!
Service is lovely here. Attentive but not smothering, thoughtful, and well paced.
Gary Danko lets you pick 3, 4, or 5 courses with basically no rules on the combination of dishes (you could pick 4 desserts if you wanted to).
I had the clam chowder (comes at you with a few bits of bacon and chives which seem suspect and then they pour steamy broth with loads of clam in it – yum!), the quail salad (crispy quail, mini soft boiled quail eggs, and a potato cake), and the scallops (so full at this point but did my best to savor the seared-on-the-outside but soft-on-the-inside goodness).
They also brought out an assortment of half bite desserts and a to-go gift of cream cheese banana bread. I love that about fancy joints.
