eating > salted egg custard buns

I almost forgot to eat these when I was in Singapore last weekend. I’m so, so, so, so glad I remembered.

Pat and I walked all over to find a place that was serving these at 3pm on a Sunday. First we tried the Chinese place in the Raffles Hotel (closed for the inbetween lunch and dinner time). We briefly considered a trek to Orchard but found a restaurant at the Marina Bay Sands that also sold it. For good measure Pat called to make sure they were still open and serving these buns.

The outside is soft and slightly chewy just like all good baos.

The inside is melty, salty, sugary custard made with a base of salted eggs.

We each ate 3 of these. People tried to make us feel bad about it. I did not feel bad about it.
